Why choose EDC

It’s a good question! Let’s face it, we don’t have the attractions of a big city, the night-life is ok but not exactly Ibiza and the range of courses – impressive though it is – doesn’t read like a hefty Argos catalogue. And yet … young adults and mature adults come to us from all over Mid and East Devon and beyond: from Axminster to Barnstaple, from Exeter to Taunton, from Torrington to Tiverton. Some come highly gifted aiming for Oxbridge; others come not feeling very able, hopeful just of doing better. Why do they come here when they could go somewhere else?

There are lots of attractive places around the College to grab a coffee with friends, catch up with some reading or campus news, or simply relax.

As well as the funky coffee shop in the lecture theatre foyer, the College has invested £4.5 million in building a new refectory, a staff area, a silver service restaurant, kitchens, a shop, a student common room and student guild office as well as state-of-the-art science and engineering laboratories. Such large-scale investment is proof of the confidence East Devon College places in its students and staff
