Stroud College
Stroud College is located in the heart of the south Cotswolds, a predominantly rural area. We serve the towns and villages of southern Gloucestershire with most of our learners living within a 10-15 mile radius of the College. Stroud is a very pleasant place to work and study.
Our customers vary widely. We have a growing contingent of 16-19 year olds studying a wide range of vocational and academic full-time programmes as well as thousands of part-time learners studying everything from Accountancy to Yoga.
We pride ourselves on our strong employer links with our Work Based Learning team providing support for hundreds of students studying in the workplace, on bespoke training and on vocational qualifications such as Apprenticeships and NVQ’s. Our Business Development team works with many local employers on developing the skills they need to move their business forward.
Our last OFSTED inspection saw the College’s School of Art receive its third grade 1, with ‘outstanding provision’. This ranks it as one of only two colleges’ in the country having achieved that accolade.
We are a Centre of Vocational Excellence in adult Care, providing specialised training courses for many local Care homes in all aspects of their work. Our Construction department aims to meet the needs of the resurgent construction industry for skilled plumbers, joiners and builders with many full-time and day release courses for apprentices and skilled trades people.
Stroud College plays a major role in the local community both at our main campus and at a number of community venues. We are proud of our links with community groups and offer a whole range of non-traditional learners the opportunity of developing their skills and knowledge. Often this will involve people improving their core skills of literacy and numeracy, increasing their confidence and abilities and subsequently their chances of moving into employment.
We work closely with other local schools and are a key member of the Stroud Post-16 Consortium. A partnership between all of the post-16 providers in Stroud committed to delivering a full range of courses for young people in the area.
At Stroud College we strive to offer our customers a wide range of high quality provision in a friendly and supportive environment. Our student numbers and range of provision are expanding and the future looks bright for Stroud College.
