Bournemouth and Poole College

The Bournemouth and Poole College is one of the larger UK colleges and caters for an average of 24,000 learners each year. This obviously incorporates the usual client groups who see the benefits of further education and the breadth that college education and training can provide.

Located within the thriving conurbation of Bournemouth and Poole in Dorset, The College operates from two main campuses (with a number of other smaller sites in between) plus of course a wide number of outreach centres for our community learning programmes.

We are proud to say that The Bournemouth and Poole College enjoys a reputation for excellence. We have won a number of accolades including several Beacon Awards, plus have CoVE status (Centre of Vocational Excellence) for our culinary skills academy, and have been awarded Matrix accreditation for the first-rate levels of impartial advice and guidance offered to prospective students.

At the heart of our success is the fact that we genuinely care about the people who use our services. We are customer focused in our approach, and seek to provide a valuable and meaningful experience for anyone who studies with us. Our latest inspection reports (2003) from OfSTED and ALI (Adult Learning Inspectorate) were impressive, and highlighted the highly supportive environment leading to academic and vocational success for a wide range of learners.

Working with employers for the economic stability, growth and development of our region is also vitally important. Further education colleges are often viewed by employers as the ‘skills engine’ of the economy, and to this end we endeavour to provide relevant, value for money, flexibly delivered qualifications and training to support business and industry.

Students from overseas also play a key role in college life. International students from over 40 countries choose to study with us on a wide range of study programmes, all adding to the lively and cosmopolitan atmosphere within The College.

At The Bournemouth & Poole College we split the delivery of education and training into specialist academies. Within these academies we cover a broad range of curriculum areas, each with specialist post–16 teaching staff (many with sector/industry expertise and knowledge) supported by state-of-the-art facilities and resources.
