House of Commons Debate on the Future of Adult Funding

16th June 2005

Briefing
Media & Parliamentary 18/05

17 June 2005

To: Principals/Chief Executives

Stop Press – House of Commons debate on the future of Adult Education on 21 June – we need your MP there!

The Lib Dem MP for Twickenham, Vincent Cable, has tabled a debate on adult education to take place on Tuesday 21 June.

This debate lasts an hour and a half and any backbench MP can participate. It is vitally important that as many MPs as possible speak or at least attend in order to demonstrate to Ministers the strength of feeling on this issue.

These are the actions we recommend you take:

• Phone your MP today and ask them to make a speech, an intervention or at least attend the debate on the ‘Future of Adult Education’ at 11am on Tuesday 21 June in Westminster Hall

• Brief your MP about how the funding cuts will affect your colleges ability to support adults in your community

If you need any further information about this debate then please contact Christopher Walden or Linda Butler at AoC – christopher_walden@aoc.co.uk
